The kids are growing up!!

Well as I posted last week, our good friend Melissa threatened to call CPS on me if I didn't bring Kinsey in for a big girl haircut, so today was the big day. She was really excited about it and couldn't wait to have Miss Melissa turn her into a Princess.

First up, the hair washing...It actually went smoother than we expected given Kinsey's propensity to absolutely FREAK OUT when her hair is washed.

Now getting down to business, the pre-cut combing out...Kinsey was a little weirded out that she couldn't see her hands and feet under the smock. But she was having a great time.
There was some serious cutting going on and she was mostly good about looking down and straight ahead, with just a few rapid head twitches.
Then it was time for the blow-dry, which reinvigorated Kinsey's curls - so good to see those again! For the full Princess treatment, Melissa added some more curls...Then it was time for some foofing...Melissa with a very satisfied first-time client! If you are in or near the Round Rock area, you should absolutely check out Salon Ciao Bella. They are awesome and it's truly a pampering experience! We were so glad Nana could hang with us for the haircut. Kinsey was eager to run around and show off her hair, so she wasn't really agreeable to pictures right away. When it was all done, we had to strut around the salon in high heels :)
We left the salon and went by the church office to show Daddy the new Princess hair. When we got out of the car, it was really windy and Kinsey asked me and Nana "Oh no, did it blow the princess hair away?" We assured her that no wind is strong enough to blow Princess hair away. I can't believe how fast my little girl is growing up. It's so fun to do these girly things with her. Thanks Melissa - you are the best!

So Tag is really trying to crawl. Just like his sister did, he loves these silver beads so they are really enticing for him.He tries so hard to propel himself but it wears him out. That's a lot of poundage to get off the ground :). I love this face, it's like "Mom, can you just give me the dumb beads?"So eventually he just gives up and rolls. It's the easy way around the room and he's really good at it. But he really does want to crawl. So far this is about as close as he's gotten. We aren't in a rush - this is a busy kid and I know he's going to be into everything as soon as he can motor. So take your time Tag!The weather here in Austin has been so insane lately. One day we'll be in fleece pj's and the next it's 80 degrees outside. We had an in-between day yesterday and the kids loved playing in the backyard. Tag is really enjoying the swing and Kinsey is loving that she can help push him. I love watching the kids play together. Kinsey is such a great big sister and except for the occasional inflicting of pain, she is awesome with Tag, always talking about how sweet he is and wanting to hug and hold him. They were watching Berenstain Bears this week and her hug got a little too strong...But shockingly, he doesn't seem too bothered by it.
Have a great weekend everyone - Pops and Mommy both have a birthday this weekend so we should have some cupcake pictures soon!

Darin,
Kinsey's haircut story was a riot! Those little curls and high-heels are too much. I love it!
And I love your laid-back attitude about Tag crawling. He will surely get there sooner than the world is ready for. He looks like he will be gettin' into everything!
