Many of you know that the second week in March, we were blessed to go back to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas for 5 awesome nights. The weather was beautiful for us with sunny days, cool breezes, and cool nights. Unfortunately the folks back here at home had freezing rainy weather. We picked the right week to be gone!When we checked in, they upgraded us to a suite in the Coral Towers. It was really nice and we found out later that it used to be part of a suite of rooms that belonged to an owner/president of the property. This was our view - we actually had two balconies which was pretty cool.
We knew that we were going to miss the kids like crazy, and vice versa, so we asked Kinsey to pick a friend for us to take with us so we could send her pics of us and the friend. She picked an elephant washcloth friend named "bath friend". Here's bath friend on the balcony.
On Tuesday, our first full day, we had breakfast at our favorite place, Mosaic, where they have the world's greatest breakfast buffet. 
Then we hung out for a while and did a lot of walking around the resort and taking in the sun. Douglas did some rock climbing... 
...and then we played tennis, which was the first time I've ever played tennis and looked at the ocean and cruise ships at the same time. Beautiful day! So we really enjoyed our suite, but the shower was not working very well and after several hours of engineering attempting to fix it while we were sweaty icky from a day in the sun, rock climbing, and playing tennis, they decided to move us. After some serious conversations between Douglas and the management regarding where they were going to move us, we finally got settled in our new room. Let's say on a scale of 1 to 10 of suites, our first one was a 6. This one was about a 9. The only reason I don't give it a 10 is because there's a crazy fancy suite there that outranks ours just a tad :). As an illustration of our suite's awesomeness, Douglas fits in an average bathtub about like a horse would fit in a canoe. Here he is in the new suite's bathtub...
The suite was incredible, largely due to the view. Here are the views from our balconies, going 180 from left to right.

One of our favorite things about the Atlantis is the openness of all of the marine creature habitats. It's amazing how close you can get to the sharks, rays, sea stars, etc. Just look how close bath friend is to this turtle! 
That night, after a killer shower, we had a great night's sleep

But bath friend's favorite part of the day was checking email and pictures from Kinsey and Tag every evening. Here he is looking at some pics of them at the playplace - looks like they wore Tag out! 
Bath friend made a new friend and told us that we just had to bring her home to meet Kinsey. 
We actually got out and had some fun, too :)

The days were beautiful, but the nights were pretty cool, too. Here are some balcony views at dusk...
I can't possibly go any further without speaking of one of the coolest features of the new suite. The amenities were seriously kicked up about 10 notches. Douglas has tried to put some of this off on me, but let me say that it was 100% his amenity obsession that led to this stash. It was crazy heavy to pack in our luggage but luckily they didn't weigh it on our way home.
And I should add a few lines about a little bit of stalking that we did during our trip
Well I guess I can't really say "we" because Douglas wanted no part of it. The Jonas Brothers were going to be performing the evening we left, so I was determined to nab a picture of them somehow. I was thinking I could pay off like a year's worth of college for the kids if I sold a good one to OK! magazine or something :). Anyway, we figured they'd put them in the Bridge suite, which is the crazy fancy suite which happened to be SO CLOSE to our suite :). I could see their balcony from ours and was constantly stalking them...all for nothing. Alas - maybe next time :)On our last night, we walked around the property after dark.
We went through the marine exhibit at night and came around the corner to this crazy big fish. Check it out next to Douglas' hand! 
Another of our favorites was this moon jellyfish exhibit. So graceful - hope to never meet one in the ocean!
And finally, this one was so amazing, it looked like a sculpture. They are so creative there!
On our last morning, we had breakfast on the balcony. 
It was so hard to leave - you really want yucky weather on your last day to ease the trip home, but knowing we'd get to hug our kids soon was enough to help us be ready to get out of there.Next post, pics of the fun that was had while we were away!!!
